Google gives creators clearer view of how their content performs in Search

Google is addressing a longstanding analytics blind spot by giving creators a clearer view of how their content performs in Search, the latest in a series of moves that suggest the technology giant is taking them more seriously as part of its search ecosystem.
The company is introducing a new feature within Search Console that will allow creators to see which search terms lead audiences to their content across Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube, as well as which individual posts are generating the most traffic from Google.
Called Platform Properties, the feature gives creators a consolidated view of how their social and video content is discovered through Google Search and Discover, including clicks, impressions and traffic trends. The feature will gradually become available over the coming weeks.
“Content creators and publishers use many channels beyond their own websites to reach their audiences,” Google said in a statement. “As people gravitate toward firsthand perspectives and different content formats, we want to make it easier for site owners and creators – even those without their own website – to get a consolidated view of how all of their content is getting discovered on Search.”
Platform Properties is the latest sign that Google is paying closer attention to the role individual creators play in its search ecosystem.
The company recently introduced Search Profiles, which allow eligible creators to influence how they appear in search results by selecting a preferred image, editing their bio and connecting their social accounts.
Still, questions remain about how widely the new tools will be available. Search Profiles are currently restricted to creators who meet Google’s eligibility requirements, including having a sizeable following. Google has not said whether Platform Properties will be available to all creators or a similarly restricted group.
