National Geographic has launched a six-month creator cohort programme aimed at engaging younger audiences across social platforms.
The initiative brings together eight creators across conservation, wildlife photography, science, travel and history.
Over the course of the programme, participants will produce content tied to National Geographic programming and collaborate on promotional campaigns linked to major releases, including Earth Month and the next instalment of the “Secrets Of” documentary series.
Participants include Maya Higa, Macaila Wagner, Maynard Okereke, Ethan Penner, Jordan Kahana, Tanya Badillo, Paige Tingey and Tenninger Kellenbarger. Each has built audiences across platforms including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
After completing the programme, they will be considered for ongoing marketing and programming opportunities with National Geographic.
Tom McDonald, executive vice president of content, said the initiative reflects changing audience habits.
“Supporting the next generation of voices in science, exploration and adventure keeps the genre ambitious and relevant, bringing a new generation of audiences into the Nat Geo ecosystem,” he said in a statement.
