Spotify is expanding into fitness with the launch of guided workout experiences, including a partnership with Peloton, as it looks to build out its offering beyond music and podcasts.

The new offering introduces curated workout playlists alongside on-demand classes featuring creators such as Chloe Ting and Kassandra Reinhardt.

Users can access playlists and selected content, with paid subscribers gaining full access to more than 1,400 ad-free fitness and wellness classes through the Peloton partnership.

The catalogue spans activities including outdoor runs, strength training, cardio, yoga and meditation, with sessions led by Peloton instructors such as Rebecca Kennedy, Ally Love and Rad Lopez. No specialist equipment is required.

Users can access the content through a dedicated fitness hub within the app, either by searching “fitness” or navigating through the browse section.

The move builds on existing user behaviour. Spotify said that nearly 70% of its premium users engage in workouts monthly, with more than 150 million fitness playlists currently active on the platform.

“For nearly two decades, Spotify has been the soundtrack to the world’s workouts,” said Roman Wasenmüller, vice president and global head of podcasts at Spotify.

“But listening was only the beginning. We are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion by bringing creators and partners like Peloton directly into our video and audio ecosystem.”

The launch marks a further step in Spotify’s push beyond audio into video and creator-led formats, as the platform looks to attract and retain non-music creators.
