Spotify rolls out podcast memberships across 34 markets

Hannah Oladele | Oct 22, 2026

Spotify has rolled out its new podcast membership feature across 34 markets, giving creators another way to earn recurring revenue directly from their audiences.

First announced at the company’s Investor Day in May, Memberships lets eligible podcasters put content behind paid tiers, with creators keeping 90% of the revenue they generate.

The feature is now available in markets including the UK and US, with a relatively low barrier to entry. Shows need at least three published episodes, 100 listeners or viewers and 100 consumption hours on Spotify over the previous 30 days to qualify.

Creators can set their own prices and decide what paying members receive, including exclusive episodes or early access. Spotify is also giving creators access to member data, including contact details where fans choose to share them.

Memberships are available to shows hosted through Spotify for Creators or Megaphone. Early participants include The Adam Friedland Show, Making Sense with Sam Harris and YMH Studios, which is introducing memberships across 12 shows.

The rollout gives Spotify a direct subscription product alongside its existing advertising and Partner Program revenue streams.
