Wimbledon has not introduced new influencer restrictions despite reports

Wimbledon has not banned influencers or introduced new restrictions on them following disruption at the US Open, The Daily Influence understands.

The All England Club, which runs the tournament, has never operated a separate media accreditation category for influencers or content creators, despite reports suggesting it is now pulling back in response to events at the US tournament. Influencers are not banned from attending Wimbledon and brands can still invite them.

While recent coverage has cited Wimbledon's Conditions of Entry as evidence of tighter rules, the provisions being referenced, which include restrictions around the use of photographic and recording equipment, are also not new, The Daily Influence understands.

Last week, creators attending the US Open faced criticism after a group was seen recording content in a hospitality suite during Naomi Osaka's first-round match against Anastasia Zakharova, prompting intervention from the chair umpire.

Around 100 influencers and content creators have received accreditation for this year's US tournament, almost double the number the year before.

Wimbledon, meanwhile, assesses its policies, including those relating to social media, as part of its annual review.
