Amelia Dimoldenberg is ending Chicken Shop Date, the YouTube series that turned her into a household name.

Announcing the decision on Instagram, Dimoldenberg said the series will end after a final run of episodes, bringing the show she started as a teenager to a close.

“I never thought I’d stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one,” she wrote.

Chicken Shop Date began in 2014 and built its audience around Dimoldenberg's deliberately awkward interviews with musicians, actors and other celebrities in fried chicken shops. Guests have ranged from Billie Eilish and Cher to Andrew Garfield and Central Cee, while Dimoldenberg's YouTube channel has grown to more than 4.4 million subscribers.

“When I was 17, I had a fantastic idea that I might meet the love of my life on a date in a chicken shop,” Dimoldenberg said. “I’ve spent my entire twenties sitting across from the most incredible people, people I’d always dreamt of meeting.”

She added: “To me the show is my very own romcom and I have loved creating so many stories for you to watch.”

The decision comes as Dimoldenberg has increasingly built a career beyond Chicken Shop Date through her production company Dimz Inc., taking her interview style into new entertainment formats while also becoming a prominent face for major brands.

Earlier this year, Marks & Spencer put Dimoldenberg at the centre of one of its biggest creator-led campaigns to date. She fronted the retailer's summer launch as the fictional general manager of its “Casa Del Compliments” campaign, which culminated in M&S's first live shoppable runway event across YouTube and Instagram.

She has also expanded further into original programming. In July, Formula 1 renewed Passenger Princess, its YouTube series produced in collaboration with Dimz Inc., for a second season after the first run attracted more than 289 million views. The format sees Dimoldenberg learning to drive with Formula 1 drivers while bringing her distinctive interview style into the world of motorsport.

Dimoldenberg has other entertainment projects in development, including a romantic comedy she is writing and set to star in.

She has not yet revealed what comes next after Chicken Shop Date, but said fans will get “a few final dates” before the series ends.
