Twitch is the latest platform to make it easier for smaller creators to make money, launching a paid Minecraft campaign that allows streamers to earn up to $1,000.
The “Tiny Takeover” campaign, which went live on April 6, enables eligible creators to qualify for payouts by streaming at least one hour of Minecraft gameplay on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sponsored campaigns on Twitch have typically been limited to its top-tier Partner creators, who must meet higher audience thresholds. Affiliates, who can qualify for the programme with as few as 25 followers, have typically not had access to these opportunities.
Viewers can also unlock in-game items and chat badges by watching streams or purchasing subscriptions during the campaign.
The move adds to a wider shift across the creator economy, as platforms look to monetise smaller creators rather than concentrating earnings among top talent. YouTube has lowered entry thresholds for monetisation, while Picsart has introduced a programme that pays creators based on content performance rather than follower count.
